lyrics

The quiet people ...
they’re all around you every day.
They never say a word.
They know no one’s listening

They are real people.
You just passed one while on your way.
Haven’t you heard ...
or weren’t you listening?

I saw them from my window … pushing a shopping cart,
full of dirty clothes and beer ...
He was screaming and cursing at her,
but, she never said a word … just looked up at my window ...
but I heard ... I saw her eyes.

My dad, he lied …
way back when I was five ...
and I cried … but, I still survived.

And all these people ...
if you don’t see them, they must not be real ...
but, don’t you feel ...
something is very wrong in here?

We’re all just people.
Why not say high, why not just lend an ear ...
what’s that you fear ...
that might be you some day my dear?

Listen ... Listen

My car broke down, so I was walking
and there he was … on a park bench, old, faded ...
just watchin’ the world go bye.
He didn’t say a word, probably hadn’t in a month ...
but I heard ... I saw his eyes.

My wife, she died ...
way back in ‘75 …
with me … but, I’m still alive!

He lied, he lied
She cried, she cried
